Rose Guccione .:. Professional Biography

ROSE GUCCIONE, soprano, is a Grand Prize Winner of the Barnett Foundation Voice Competition and a recipient of the Gina Monastero Award. She is a previous finalist in The Metropolitan Opera Auditions - Central Region; the Friedrich Schorr Memorial Performance International Prize in Voice; and the Bel Canto National Competition. She was one of forty singers chosen worldwide to participate in Plácido Domingo's Operalia at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux and one of eight singers to participate in master classes with Niccolai Ghiaurov at the Centro Universale del Bel Canto (C.U.Be.C.) in Vignola, Modena, Italy.

Ms. Guccione recently performed a program of Strauss and Schubert lieder in the Ravinia Festival's Bennett-Gordon Hall, the roles of Madame Flora in Menotti's The Medium, Madame de la Haltière in Massanet’s Cendrillon, Cinderella's Stepmother in Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods, and Leonora in Verdi’s La forza del destino and participated in Fantasy of the Opera on the stage of Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Additional performances include the roles of Elisabetta in Don Carlo, Leonora in Il trovatore, the title role in Aïda (a Chicago Tribune Critic's Choice), Micaëla in Bizet's Carmen and Elvira in L'Italiana in Algeri. She has covered the roles of Elvira in Ernani, Amelia in Un ballo in maschera and Béatrice in Béatrice et Bénédict. She also performed supporting roles in Lyric Opera of Chicago's productions of Peter Grimes, Turandot, Suor Angelica and The Rake's Progress.

Upcoming performances include "Spring Sing," an annual recital featuring members of the Sherwood Conservatory of Music at Columbia College faculty accompanied by Patrick Sinozich and "An Evening at the Opera," a concert preview of Lyric's 2009-2010 season with Janet Mensen Reynolds, Kenneth Donovan, Robert Morrissey accompanied by Patrick Holland.

Additionally, Ms. Guccione is an Ensemble Member of Salsation Theatre Company, NFP, a voice faculty member of Sherwood Conservatory at Columbia College and is a Music Talent Scholarship, Honors Scholarship and High Academic Achievement Award recipient at Northeastern Illinois University.
